Spa Naoiri #2
2nd Track Day
So, last Sunday we had our second track day at SPA Naoiri. Great fun and the weather stayed dry for us until we were finished.
Kind of the same deal as before, 3 runs (this time only 15 minutes each) and divided into 3 categories. (Basically slo, mid, and as fast as you want to go) I really wanted to up my level to the fast group, but you have to have an all leather one-piece and I don’t.
Still, this time we had a group of riders from Team Green (Including Akira Yanagawa!!) there to give us pointers and ride point. It was cool in that they took us around the track while Yanagawa was doing laps full out and explained the reference points and ideal lines.
I made sure I was in the front of the group this time, so I rode right behind the instructor on 2 of the 3 runs. For the last run, I asked him to up the speed a bit and he took it almost to my limits. I made sure to thank him afterwards and he complimented my style, saying I looked pretty smooth. (Which was great because that is exactly what I was working on – smooth side to side transitions using my knees to shift position without raising up too high off the seat.)
Rained like hell for the 3 hour ride home, but it was worth every second.

The panorama is turns 1 through 4.
It’s primarily a Kawasaki track, so mostly Kawi’s. I love that Yellow Honda though!
