Quote of the Month 26
The quote for October and November:
” We had to struggle with the old enemies of peace — business and financial monopoly, speculation, reckless banking, class antagonism, sectionalism, war profiteering.
They had begun to consider the Government of the United States as a mere appendage to their own affairs. We know now that Government by organized money is just as dangerous as Government by organized mob. “
Franklin D. Roosevelt
Address Announcing the Second New Deal
October 31, 1936
I’ll have to find the time to write more about this one. But with the looming presidential campaign already creating a circus all across America, this just felt right.
This is from 1936 for God’s sake!! You could say it today and other than the “had” being past tense, you wouldn’t be wrong.
